Please be advised that the FETC is now open!   Address is
6220 N. Nebraska Avenue, Tampa Florida (813)233-3843.
Although the FETC is not fully operational at this time, however, they are accepting the following individuals:

1. Individuals who are in crisis, but do not meet criteria for an involuntary examination (BA52)
2. Individuals who are in need of minimal medication management until their appointment with their primary psychiatrist/physician - psychiatric only.
3. Adults only at this time - children will be next stage.

The FETC is functioning as a psychiatric triage unit at this time to alleviate some of the influx on Central Intake....again, this is only for individuals who do not meet criteria for involuntary examination, individuals who do meet this criteria should be taken to Central Intake or the nearest receiving facility.

Referrals can be made by calling (813)233-3843.

The C & A Action Center would like to increase the advocates listed on the local contact list. If you would like to be added to the list,

LAWYERS NEEDED

NAMI maintains a list of lawyers around the country willing to accept referrals of pertinent cases involving people living with mental illnesses or their families.

Currently, there are several hundred attorneys on the list and also periodically callers are referred to attorneys on lists maintained by other organizations such as the American Bar Association and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).

Although NAMI sends these attorneys a questionnaire to assess their experience and areas of expertise, we do not have the capacity to monitor their performance in individual cases or vouch for the quality of their work.

Nevertheless, we receive large numbers of calls from people seeking legal assistance and therefore would like to expand our list as much as possible. If you or your members know of attorneys in your states or communities with specific expertise or commitment to helping consumers or their families, please contact Stuart Broad, Stuart@nami.org, or Elise Resnick, Elise@nami.org, and provide names and mailing addresses. We will send these attorneys a cover letter and short questionnaire inquiring about their willingness to be included on our list. Thank you for your help!
